Stuart Adams

Stuart Adams brings more than a decade of coaching experience across junior development, competitive performance programs, adult coaching and community tennis to Futures Tennis Academy.

Originally from Scotland, Stuart began his coaching career at Rubislaw Tennis Club in Aberdeen, where he spent almost 10 years developing his experience across junior and adult programs. His role included leading group sessions, delivering holiday camps, coaching within local primary schools and organising competitive match play opportunities for junior players.

Stuart later expanded his coaching experience at Aberdeen Tennis Centre and David Lloyd Aberdeen, working with players across all ages and standards. His coaching has ranged from beginners taking their first steps in tennis through to competitive players seeking more individualised technical and tactical development.

His performance coaching background also includes working with the NESLTA District Squad, with a particular focus on competitive Under-9 to Under-11 players. In this environment, Stuart worked closely with developing athletes and their families, helping players progress while building strong relationships between coaches, players and parents.

Stuart is an LTA UKCC Level 3 qualified coach and has developed a coaching style centred around clear communication, strong technical foundations and helping players understand how to apply their skills effectively in competitive situations.

Alongside traditional club coaching, Stuart spent several years working with the Denis Law Legacy Trust StreetSport program in Aberdeen. The initiative delivered free sporting opportunities to young people across a diverse range of communities, often using parks and public spaces to make sport more accessible. Stuart also led teams of volunteers as part of the program, giving him valuable experience engaging with young people from a wide variety of backgrounds.

As a player, Stuart has competed at club, county and regional level since his early teenage years. He represented Rubislaw Tennis Club in the North East Scotland Men’s Summer Leagues and Scottish Cup before later competing for David Lloyd.

During university, Stuart represented the Men’s First Team in the British Universities and Colleges Sport Tennis League. His team won its division and achieved promotion to the fourth division for the first time in the university club’s history.

Stuart’s broad experience across performance tennis, club programs, schools and community sport has given him a strong understanding of how different players learn and develop. He places particular importance on creating positive and inclusive environments while still challenging players to improve technically, tactically and competitively.

Known for his direct and engaging coaching style, Stuart enjoys building strong relationships with his players and helping them develop confidence, independence and a long-term enjoyment of the game.
