Tennis Australia Club Professional Coach (45 Years)

Rob Peterson is one of Futures Tennis Academy’s most experienced senior coaches, bringing more than 45 years of coaching experience and a lifetime of involvement in the sport.
As a junior player, Rob reached the No. 1 ranking in Victoria, establishing himself as one of the leading players in the state. He went on to compete in VTA State Grade 1 Pennant, the highest level of club competition in Victoria, giving him extensive first-hand experience of high-level competitive tennis.
Following his playing career, Rob developed a long and successful career in coaching, working with players across virtually every stage of the tennis pathway. Over more than four decades on court, he has coached everyone from young beginners learning the fundamentals of the game through to experienced competitive players seeking to refine their technique, tactics and match play.
Rob’s contribution to the coaching profession was recognised in 2000 when he received the TCAV Club Coach of the Year Award, acknowledging his commitment to player development and the wider tennis community.
At Futures Tennis Academy, Rob plays an important role beyond his own on-court coaching. As a Senior Head Coach, he contributes to coach mentoring and staff development, passing on the knowledge and experience accumulated throughout his career to younger members of the Futures coaching team.
His depth of experience gives Rob a strong understanding of long-term player development and the importance of adapting coaching to the individual. He combines technical knowledge with an ability to communicate clearly and develop strong relationships with players, helping them improve while maintaining their enjoyment of the game.
Known for his professionalism, enthusiasm and genuine care for his students, Rob has built an exceptional rapport with players and families over many years. His experience, approachable manner and continued passion for coaching have made him one of Futures Tennis Academy’s most respected and sought-after coaches.
With a background spanning elite junior competition, State Grade tennis, award-winning coaching and decades of player and coach development, Rob continues to make an important contribution to the standards and culture of Futures Tennis Academy.
