Nanda Jiang

Nanda Jiang brings a strong playing background, enthusiasm for player development and growing experience in tournament operations to Futures Tennis Academy.

Although Nanda took up tennis later than many players who progress through competitive junior pathways, he quickly developed a strong passion for the sport and made significant progress in a relatively short period of time. Having now played for more than seven years, Nanda has built considerable competitive experience and a strong understanding of the technical and tactical aspects of the game.

A significant part of Nanda’s development came under the guidance of Futures Tennis Academy High Performance Coach Duncan Sillato, who coached him for four years. Training within a structured performance environment helped Nanda develop his game while also exposing him to the standards, discipline and training habits required to progress as a competitive player.

Nanda enjoyed success throughout his junior playing career, including becoming the Mount Waverley Junior Club Champion. He was also part of successful school tennis teams, winning the EISM Championship in three consecutive years in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

In 2022, Nanda participated in the Tennis Australia Future Leaders Program, an experience that further developed his appreciation for tennis beyond simply competing as a player. The program strengthened his interest in leadership, coaching and contributing to the broader tennis community and played an important role in his progression into coaching.

Having experienced both performance coaching and competitive tennis himself, Nanda is able to relate strongly to developing players. He understands that improvement does not always follow the same pathway for every athlete and enjoys helping players build confidence, develop their fundamentals and discover their own enjoyment of the sport.

In addition to coaching, Nanda has developed valuable experience in UTR tournament operations and management, assisting with the organisation and delivery of competitive events. His involvement includes supporting draws, match scheduling, player coordination and the day-to-day requirements involved in running successful tournaments.

This combination of coaching and tournament experience gives Nanda an understanding of player development from both sides of the competitive environment, from preparing players on court to helping provide them with quality opportunities to compete.

Away from tennis, Nanda is currently studying Commerce and Information Technology, complementing his practical experience with developing skills in business, organisation and technology.

Nanda brings an enthusiastic and considered approach to the Futures coaching team and continues to develop as both a coach and leader within the academy.
