Tennis Australia Trainee Qualified Coach

Kosta Mandikos brings a strong junior performance background, extensive tournament experience and a genuine passion for player development to Futures Tennis Academy.
As a junior, Kosta was identified as one of the stronger players in his age group and spent five years within the National Development Squad, training in structured high-performance environments alongside other leading junior players.
A former Kooyong Foundation player, Kosta competed extensively at a high level from a young age and represented himself at National Championships in the Under-10, Under-12 and Under-14 age groups. By the age of 13, he had achieved a UTR of 9, reflecting the standard he had reached early in his development.
Throughout his junior career, Kosta regularly competed in high-level tournaments, gaining valuable experience against strong opposition and developing an understanding of the technical, tactical and mental demands of competitive tennis.
His achievements were also recognised through his school sporting career, where he received High School Colours for Sport in recognition of his contribution and performance.
Kosta’s playing pathway was ultimately interrupted by a severe shoulder injury. While the injury forced him to step away from pursuing tennis at the same competitive level, it also became an important turning point in his journey and led him to develop a strong interest in coaching and helping other players progress.
He has since focused on transferring the knowledge and experiences gained throughout his own junior development into his coaching. Having personally experienced both the demands of high-performance tennis and the challenges associated with injury, Kosta brings a considered perspective to player development and understands the importance of building players progressively and sustainably.
Kosta is also studying Sports Management and Coaching, further developing his understanding of athlete development, coaching practice and the broader sporting environment.
Away from the technical side of tennis, Kosta has a strong interest in nutrition, physical wellbeing and maintaining an active lifestyle. He encourages players to understand that improvement is influenced not only by what happens on court, but also by preparation, physical habits and the way they approach their overall development.
Kosta brings an energetic and knowledgeable approach to coaching and particularly enjoys working with junior players looking to progress from strong fundamentals into more competitive tennis.
