Aedan Nelson

Aedan Nelson brings an extensive competitive playing background, strong technical knowledge and a genuine passion for the game to his coaching at Futures Tennis Academy.

As a junior, Aedan established himself as one of the leading players in Australia for his age group. He was ranked No. 1 in Victoria for more than three years and reached a career-high ranking of No. 2 in Australia, reflecting the consistency and level of performance he achieved throughout his junior career.

Aedan represented Victoria at both Under-12 and Under-14 level and was selected to compete in Bruce Cup on two occasions. He was also part of the National Development Squad and spent six years within the National Development Academy pathway, training in high-performance environments alongside some of Australia’s leading junior players.

A former Kooyong Foundation player, Aedan developed significant tournament experience throughout his junior career. His training and competition took him across Melbourne and interstate, as well as internationally to Europe, where he gained valuable exposure to different playing styles, training environments and competitive standards.

His success as a junior also led to sponsorship support from leading international tennis brands Yonex and Wilson, further recognising his standing as one of Australia’s prominent developing players at the time.

These experiences gave Aedan a strong understanding of the demands placed on developing players, from technical and tactical improvement through to tournament preparation, resilience and the day-to-day discipline required to progress in the sport.

After stepping away from competitive tennis due to injury, Aedan quickly found a new passion in coaching. He has since focused on passing on the knowledge, habits and experiences gained throughout his own playing career to the next generation of players.

Aedan is known for his energetic approach on court, strong hitting ability and ability to challenge players while maintaining an engaging and positive training environment. He works across a broad range of programs and standards, supporting players from those building their fundamentals through to more advanced juniors seeking to develop their competitive game.

His playing background also allows him to act as a high-quality hitting partner for performance players, while his approachable coaching style helps him connect strongly with younger players and those progressing through the Futures Tennis Academy pathway.
